An early production instrument by famed luthier Corrado Giacomel of Genoa, Italy, who has constructed a small number of mandolin family instruments and is notably associated with Dave Grisman (Dawg) who has played Giacomel's mandolins for many years. The J5 model features a breathtaking stylized/angular F-type body constructed using maple back and sides, an arched spruce top, with rosewood capped points; bound top and back; equipped with ebony bridge, pickguard,"Allen" tailpiece. One piece maple neck with a 13-3/4" scale length, 1-5/16" nut width, comfortable soft v profile; ebony fretboard w/ skinny block inlay on 10th, 12th, and 15th fret; rosewood peghead overlay and backstrap; maker's logo in pearl present on peghead overlay as well as flower pot. Some mild finish dings and play wear present. An extremely fine instrument. Included in sale is later F case.
