An early example of a Lucien Gelas patent mandolin, built in 1909 by E. Gaudet who was a well-known French builder and music publisher; excellent sounding instrument, full dynamic spectrum, rich and even. Teardrop shaped body features light stained flamed maple back and sides, two intersecting spruce tops with inlaid ebony pickguard; the compensated ebony bridge is a reproduction. The maple neck has an ebony fingerboard with original bar frets; great playability and intonation.
