A finely preserved example of one of the patent banjos produced in Boston for Gad Robinson, by the A. C. Fairbanks Co., having won over Robinson's contract from both L. B. Gatcomb, and O. R. Chase. The neck is mahogany and features the work of master engraver Icilio Consalvi on fretboard and peghead; equipped with original Champion friction tuning pegs with replaced fifth; Nickel plated brass rim with very cool scalloped tonering; stamped early No Knot tailpiece. 10-7/8" rim X 27" scale. The rim is in beautiful shining condition, and the neck has only a little light relief. Typical hairline cracking of pearwood peghead overlay
