Fender Super Amp 6G4A c.1962

  • Excellent + Condition
  • Year: circa 1962
  • Serial #: 57582

A rare sleeper from the Fender catalog, we are pleased to have this Brown Super Amp from the Fender Electronic Instruments Company. These amps were only produced between 1960-63, with this example dating to December 1962. These amps are well regarded as a portable option not to dissimilar from a Concert or Vibrolux, featuring the same circuitry as the former and similar speaker configuration to the latter. Fixed bias at 40 watts, these produce a smooth tone that hints on breakup nicely with the right amount of volume, and the all so coveted Harmonic Tremolo. Excellent condition cosmetically, this amp sports an incredible clean Brown tolex, faceplate, knobs and handle. Internally this amp has recently been serviced by local amp wizard, John Nau. Nau has recapped the amp with Nichicon filter caps and some various electrolytics. Original death cap is still present. It is currently outfitted with newer Eminence Legend speakers which suit this amp nicely and compliment the headroom. Original 10K5 Oxford speakers are included (which date to later '63) but are in desperate need for a recone. These are highly sought after and could use a breath of life. Original Astron caps which had been removed are included in the sale, along with the original 2 prong IEC (New IEC has been installed). Original tube chart present with LL stamp (which dates to Dec '62 making it possibly a '63 product). Comes with original footswitch. This low noise floor example would make a great studio partner for the right session musician, and deserves to be on stage. No cover. 43 lbs.
