Sometimes instruments make you turn your head and only imagine the history. Presumably, this started as a '95 Fender 60's Reissue, that someone had a lot of fun with. The neck pocket has a stamp of Dec 1995, which matches the original pickguard's underside assembly sticker also dating to late 1995. The body is routed SSH with an interesting little circle underneath - seen on some other Fenders from this era. The neck has also been relic'd and the original date stamp removed and replaced with hand written red pen 13 April 63B - clearly not in the original Fender ilk - but rather by a big fan of Fender. The headstock water decal appears original & looks great on the late 60's large size, but is clearly not of '67 further due to the lack of patent #'s. The neck is a comfortable well relic'd thinner C profile measuring .77" front to back at the first fret. It has a 1 9/16" nut width. The tuners appear to be Kluson style tuners that also show some age, but function as they should. The neck plate is stamped appropriately with the F stamp along with serial # 112996 which does date it to a late '65, but is something more easily faked.
Lots of little details on this one, including the original black poly finish is more seen under the pickguard, that otherwise had been taken down in some form of relicing. It is missed the back plate. The pickups appear to be lesser expensive Fender pickups. The original pickguard on this guitar was pretty warped, and was replaced with a 3 ply guard. New screws were used, and a new output jack was installed. As this guitar clearly has some interesting history, it is being sold as essentially a parts guitar, although it is mostly original. Comes with a gig bag.
