Opening this case, is like opening a glowing treasure chest. This is an absolutely beautiful, and unique spin on the classic '52 Tele from Fenders Custom shop in 2006. This is a hyper collectable instrument - fitted with impressive all gold hardware, on a nice white blonde finished ash body (semi translucent like a Mary Kaye). Photos simply do not do it justice.
The guitar features the classic '52 style appointments with correct "dark circuit" style wiring, quintessential 1-ply black guard, and chunky C profile flame maple neck. The flame is stunning and very three dimensional. This NOS or "New Old Stock" style guitar simply means it is designed with the original specs, but with no wear, as if it were new and straight from '52.
The neck is a unique and comfortable huge C. It's huge... It measures 1" thick at the first position, and does not change in the higher positions. This guitar shows no fret wear, and plays easily in every position. It has the 7.25" radius we'd expect, and has a balanced low action measuring 5/64" at the twelfth fret on both the 1st and 6th strings. It has a 1 5/8" nut width.
The pickups sound nice and sweet - very capable of early rock & roll and country. This is of no surprise as the pickups installed were wound by the Queen of Tone herself - Abigail Ybarra. Abby began winding pickups for Fender in 1956 and since has retired in 2013. Her pickups are coveted and for good reason, and we are thrilled to have heard these signed examples on this instrument. The "Dark Circuit" refers to the rolled off bass sound you achieve in the first position. The middle position is wired to the neck pickup, and the bridge is wired typically. The pickup outputs measure 6.9k in the neck, and 6.6k in the bridge.
The guitar is virtually unused, and comes with two separate cases - one fitted tweed case, and one molded plastic case. It comes with the original COA, Custom shop paperwork/hang tags, as well as the strap & cable case candy.
