Epiphone Zephyr Cutaway model from 1954, the only year with this particular model designation, and the only year where this particular pickup (made by DeArmond especially for Epiphone) was used. The 17" body is fully bound with original yellowed binding, has a single cutaway; pickup is the same as a DeArmond Dynasonic except with adjustable pole pieces; one replaced pot, and period knobs; two plugged holes on upper bout and near other controls from past switches, and plugged holes on top above bridge from past pickup. The mahogany neck has the original rosewood fingerboard; frets are in nice shape; missing heel cap. There is some separation at the heel which does not appear to be worsening. The gap measures about 4/64" and it extends from the back of the heel roughly 1-3/4" toward the fretboard. This would need to be addressed with a neck reset, as it does impact the action. At the 12th fret it measures about 11/64" making the guitar pretty unplayable in higher registers currently. For that reason we have it tuned down to Eb.
