Listed As-Is, this is surely one for the right luthier looking to make a pretty cool Jazz Box.
The Epiphone Spartan Masterbilt model was one of Epiphone's flag ship full hollows. These instruments are true warriors, used by many gigging musicians, as a quality instrument that typically wouldn't command the price point of their Gibson counter parts. This particular example, while needing a fair bit of work and parts, could make a certain player very happy one day...
Constructed with a 16", solid carved spruce top, and laminate maple back and sides - it has a standard 16.5" lower bout, 9.25" waist, and 11.5" upper bout. It is constructed with a 25.5" scale length with a 1 5/8" nut width, constructed with mahogany, and a bound rosewood fingerboard.
Extensive work is expected with this guitar to make it playable again. The heel is lifting and likely this guitar would require a neck reset. No tuners, but it does include the original tailpiece, which has has a ripped seam at the hanger. Original rosewood bridge is stamped with a matching serial number to the interior label of the guitar. The guitar itself is cosmetically in okay shape with typical finish wear, but clearly requires new binding. One might consider a neck mount pickup, as there are already holes drilled for a monkey arm style system. No pickguard, or heel cap cover. The neck appears very straight and the frets are actually quite clean with nice binding (phew), but this guitar is missing its original tuners. The head cap veneer is clean with a nice bright classic Epiphone logo.
No case.
