The Broadway name first appeared in the Epiphone catalog in the early 1930s as a fully acoustic archtop guitar, was discontinued in the early 1950s and reappeared in 1958 as a Gibson-produced electric archtop guitar. This example is from a small batch produced in cherry finish, and is from 1967 (the only year for this option). All of the metal hardware is gold-plated (possibly a custom order, or later upgrade). The fully bound body is 17-3/8" wide, has a single cutaway, equipped with mini-humbuckers, Frequensator tailpiece, ebony L-5 bridge with pearl inlaid foot. The 25.5" scale neck is bound and has a rosewood fretboard with block pearl inlay, 1-9/16" nut width; equipped with later Gibson Deluxe tuners. Profuse finish checking throughout, past strap button hole through center of heel, chip in binding at back edge near tailpiece. Included in sale is original hard case (latch has been reinforced w/ leather piece)
