A unique and cool piece from OMI Dobro, dating to 1992. This maple constructed round neck has a fantastic sound, with clear defined basses and singing melody strings - perfectly suitable for any delta blues or rag you'd want to perform. Easy playability and well preserved, it comes to us in great shape from its previous owner. Interesting design elements imply that this was a custom order, or a one off from Dobro, and we're proud to have it here at the shop.
The body is built with maple construction, and adorned with all gold hardware, including its resonator cover atop the spider cone. The back and sides are specifically unique as they're sandwiched pieces of high quality maple with what appears to be walnut, the back specifically with a deco-esque geometric pattern. The body is in great shape with only light wear, and surprisingly low tarnish in the gold plating.
It is constructed with a 24.5" scale length, with the neck joining the body at the 12th fret. The round neck plays great with a slide or in standard, with fairly low action measuring only 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret. The nut width is slightly wider, measuring about 1 13/16" making it very comfortable for finger style players. The frets are very clean with only very minimal wear present, having possibly been used for slide in its past career. The profile of the neck is built with some incredibly flamed pieces of maple in a 5 piece construction. It has a slotted peg head and is outfitted with matching gold Grover open geared tuners.
Includes the original hardshell case.
