Built by esteemed luthier Alan Carruth, based in New Hampshire, this is an early example of his work and is a most impressive seven string; Carruth's "basic archtop" start at $9K new. The 15-15/16" wide archtop body features flamed maple construction on the back and sides, and a straight grained spruce top; bound in maple; equipped with a Bendedetto pickguard mounted pickup (filled holes from past neck mounted pickup present on upper bass side binding), and an ebony bridge/tailpiece; filled holes on treble side from past pickguard; repaired top crack. The maple neck has a 25-1/8" scale maple-bound ebony fretboard w/ fancy pearl work (Bluejay present at third fret), 1-7/8" wide nut, thin profile for easy playability; "crown" peghead shape...equipped with gold-plated Schaller tuners. Light finish wear present, but not played much.
