Carl Arcand has a seasoned background in architecture, which aided him in his pursuits to become a full time banjo builder. Arcands builds are often stamped under his "Second Life" branding, available by custom order. This example features some very high level appointments, without being over the top in adornment while showcasing Arcands fine woodworking ability. This Dobson style open back banjo features a 12" pot, with a Bill Rickard's raw brass Dobson tone ring and modern nickel plated brass rim assembly. The stained Maple pot features a nice Wenge rim cap with wood bindings. It measures 3" deep and 1/2" thick. Rickard's Dobson tone ring sits directly on the rim giving the banjo a deep and sweet voice, with just enough sustain. Original Jamaican Goat skin head, and a Buckeye Banjos tailpiece. Cosmetically it is very clean with hardly a mark on it. It is designed with a 25.5" scale with an S scoop. It's one-piece black cherry neck has an adjustable truss rod at the heel. Its fingerboard is made of ebony and and has a matching peg head veneer. The neck is nice and straight with easy playability, and no fret wear. 1 3/8" nut width, it also has a single railroad spike installed for A tuning. 5 Star Planetary Tuners and a Gotoh 5th present.
