The finest banjo from the finest period, this is an A.C. Fairbanks Whyte Laydie No. 7 SN#21698 ca. 1902 featuring a full 11" rim diameter and 27" scale length neck; intonates and sounds fantastic. Thin (1/4") rim, bound with tortoise/capped in marquetry; equipped with original reversed scalloped tonering; grooved tension hoop w/ all original cobra hooks; equipped with original stamped No Knot tailpiece. The flamey maple neck features an exquisite heel carving, and profusely engraved pearl inlay all over the fretboard, peghead overlay, and heel cap; finely engraved Gryphon on backstrap; equipped with new Gotoh tuners w/ old grained ivoroid buttons.
