Complete and original example of a 1906 A.C. Fairbanks Whyte Laydie No. 2 long held in a collection since the mid 1970s. The rim assembly features the famous scalloped "Electric" tonering, and measures 10-15/16" in diameter; equipped with original No Knot tailpiece; some mild tarnishing on some of the plated parts, typical for period. The 27" scale maple neck feels fantastic in one's hand, and retains the original frets seated in the original pearwood fingerboard; pearlwork and engraving can be attributed to Icilio Consalvi, including a fabulous Gryphon on peghead face; pearwood peghead overlay has chipped and separated leaving a small portion near lowest tuned string missing; original friction pegs present, replaced fifth. Included in sale is original hard shell case.
