A prime example of an Albert Fairbanks & Company Special Electric No. 1, from the Golden Age of Boston Banjo-making; plays very well and has a perfect "Whyte Laydie" brilliant tone. This example features a 10-3/4" diameter rim w/ 27" scale length mahogany neck w/ laminations underneath the pearl-adorned/engraved ebony fingerboard; little fret or play wear present; binding shrinkage present beneath fingerboard and underneath pearwood peghead overlay (some surface separations as is common with pearwood of this age); equipped with Pre-War planetary tuners w/ grained ivoroid buttons; hairline surface separation on bass-side of peghead. The rim is spun on exterior and features all original hardware apart from reproduction Kershner tailpiece.
