Transitional A. C. Fairbanks Electric model, debuting in 1892, featuring 11-5/8" diameter "half-spun" rim assembly, carved heel, and engraved fancy pearl inlay. The pot features Fairbanks' scalloped "Electric" tonering, this particular one stamped with a "2", with half of black painted wood exposed; serial number and maker stamps present; original grooved tension hoop w/ replaced hooks. Setup with reproduction Bone tailpiece. The 25.5" scale mahogany neck has a thickly carved heel, and ebony fingerboard with nicely detailed engraved pearl work; portions of the inlay on the higher frets appear to be re-engraved and with a piece of abalone replacing pearl at 12th fret. The neck itself has been oversprayed, and has definitely had repairs performed on the backstrap and around peghead ears; checking and wear present on neck and on wooden rim interior and some chipping on fretboard near fret edges. Equipped with aged reproduction friction tuners.
