One of the earliest and most unique examples by Bay State that we have seen. Parlor sized body with no binding, made with Brazilian rosewood back and sides, with a straight grained spruce top; numerous top cracks, and a spliced area of spruce near treble side lower bout, replaced bridge (split), screw from past trapeze tailpiece present; large wooden endpin; at some point the back and top seem to have been removed during a past restoration, and there are some gaps; block stamped Bay State. The mahogany neck notably features a rounded peghead shape that is stamped on top "A 34" and "Bay State" on reverse; rosewood fingerboard; warping present on neck; equipped with very high quality geared tuners with bone buttons
