With origins likely inspired by the harp, the 7 string guitar has been around since the 18th century. The added bass dimension furthers harmony and from a design standpoint is not too much of a learning curve for a traditional 6 string player to adjust to. Here for your consideration is a fine 7 string Classical by Spanish guitar builder Neris Gonzalez & Bartolex Guitars. Bartolex specializes in extended range classical instruments made of exotic high grade wood, fit for the modern player. This model, the SBS7CEL is one such instrument from this builder, featuring a Spruce top and what appears to be a finely burled Madagascar Rosewood back & sides, which appears to be laminate. It has a shorter 635mm scale length and a 55.5mm nut width. It appears to have a mortise tenon style heel internally. In Classical fashion, this guitar does not have a truss rod, but the neck is nice and straight with even action that measures 3mm in height on the seventh string at the twelfth fret, and about 2.5mm in height on the first string. It has a nice light weight fan bracing. This guitars modern charm is furthered by its cutaway for upper register access, and its nice BBand A5T pickup with built in 4Band EQ & tuner. Cosmetically this guitar is in good shape, less some surface level scratches in its gloss finish. The gold plated tuners have began to wear, but not problematically so. This guitar is a great choice for a high grade extended range classical. Comes with a Gig Bag.
