Amazing early, this banjo was produced in August of 1923 just one month after the model was first introduced, this is a Bacon and Day Silver Bell No. 1 tenor with early "first-run" appointments and short 22" scale 17 fret neck. The rim assembly features a perforated Silver Bell tonering, dark stained maple rim; equipped with Presto tailpiece...factory equipment until Spring of '24. Gorgeous turned maple resonator, early metal flange with circular cutouts; missing one thumb screw/two broken nubs. Most notably, the maple neck has a lavish carved heel, has only 17 frets, and the shorter 22" scale length. Equipped with original friction tuners. There is some mild cosmetic wear and tarnish to some of the plating, but this is a fine playing early Bacon banjo nearly suitable for display.
