This is a modern banjo made by the late Allen Hart. He made instruments in the style of William Esperance Boucher of Baltimore, MD who was one of the earliest manufactures of banjos. Allen Hart was a maker and player, and a well-known personality in Seattle, WA. Mr. Hart copied original instruments and made all of the parts including the wingnuts and the brackets by hand. The neck is maple stained reddish-brown as was the banjo that he copied. The 12" rim has a skin topand back which creates a very plunky tone.
