This is a later period, top of the line original five string from the famous Boston company. The neck, with 27" scale, is intensely grained maple ornamented with engraved mother of pearl. The heel is carved in a floral pattern and the headstock is adorned with the classic "flowerpot" pearl inlay. The rim is 10-15/16" in diameter with inlayed marquetry on the bottom edge. This banjo is equipped with original pre war planet tuners as well as a geared fifth. The tailpiece is an original five string Kerschner. This is a well preserved example and suitable for playing many styles.
