This banjo began its life is a Style X No. 9. It was converted to Deluxe specifications by Vincent Mondello. The pie-sectioned resonator has perfectly engraved celluloid appointments on the back and sidewall. The metal parts are profusely engraved and plated in 24k gold. The finish is perfectly redone with the exception of some orange paint on the inside of the resonator. The heel of the maple neck is highly car. Fancy pearl inlay's throughout the neck and Peg head. The Deluxe clamshell tailpiece is also engraved. The tuners are new Gotoh style with celluloid buttons. Four gold plated screws were added to secure the resonator to the flange. This modification has not affected the banjo in anyway except to make the resonator more secure. All in all this is a fine vintage banjo with all the appearances of Vega's finest model.
