Here is a beautifully original, minstrel banjo that was recently found in an attic in Western NY. The banjo is clean and hardly played. The neck is painted black and appears to have been originally fretted. The rosewood rim is a thin, single lap and is 13-1/2 inches in diameter. It is very playable with an absolutely beautiful sound. The peghead is slotted and the fifth peg has an unusual configuration. The hardware is "modern" and perhaps from the 1920s. We have now seen 4 examples of banjos that must have come from the same workshop and all were from this area.
