This awesome classical guitar grew out of a collaboration between C.F. Martin and Thomas Humphrey. It features Mr. Humphreys special design of a tapered body combined with a ramped fingerboard that's up close to the strings for low action, while being well above the sound board for outstanding volume and tonal range. Not many of these guitars were made, and mostly by one Martin builder, Danny Brown who is now running Guitar Makers Connection. The Humphrey design is so complex that Danny pretty much built these guitars by hand. The C-1R features a solid Western Red Cedar top rosewood back and sides, rosewood bridge and fretboard, Humphrey lattice bracing, rose pattern mosaic rosette, and Rosewood binding. The guitar has some finish checking on the top, as well as a few dings and scratches, and sounds FANTASTIC!
