Heavy 10.5 double spun German silver over wood rim, with 26" scale all mahogany neck; dowel stick stamped "H.C. Nelson, Evanston IL", which may indicate a connection with notable Chicago banjo builder J.B. Schall. Repaired crack present on back of neck, as well as a filled hole opposite from fifth string peg. Ebony fretboard and peghead overlay, with diamonds and a star respectively. Unusual metal heel cap which covers the end of the ebony neck shim. Reproduction ivoroid friction pegs, and original tailpiece.
