All original example from Henry C. Dobson that represents one of the earliest patents for a resonator and top-tension banjo with wooden tension hoop. Maple rim with fine rosewood veneer, this example was clearly well-loved and shows signs of finish scratching and wear. 20 screws secure tension hoop to the outer resonator. Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard/peghead overlay, evidence of past heel crack repair and repairs to fretboard. Outfitted with reproduction brass tailpiece, and friction pegs.
