"In tune with the times, the SB-450 "turns on" and speaks a contemporary language. Full rich bass and crisp treble response place this exciting instrument up front in quality performance" - 1972 Gibson Catalogue In the times when the Gibson EB series basses were incredibly popular, Gibson sought to produce and market a cheaper alternative to their successful EB line. Thus, they made the SB-450 and SB-350. The SB-450 is a longer scale, while the SB-350 is a short scale model. Unfortunately, this line did not catch on and after just two years of production, Gibson discontinued the line in 1974. This is a nice players grade instrument with original electronics, one replaced tuner, and the original bridge was replaced with a Leo Quan Badass bridge. It comes with its share of dings, nicks, and other cosmetic mojo. A limited amount of these guitars were made, and this is one of only 193 made in walnut finish. With the single volume and tone knobs, and the two switches, you can control the two mini humbucker pickups to dial in the tone you desire. It's a nice punchy bass with a great vintage vibe!
