This is a very RARE original 5 string banjo with trap-door resonator and ball bearing tone ring. The moccasin peghead shape is the signature of these early Gibsons. It is all original and equipped with the engraved tailpiece, ivoroid pickguard and original bridge. This banjo is exceptionally clean and shows little playing wear. There is a custom made plate on the inside of the case that details the provenance. The rim is fitted with the early perforated tonering which, in combination with the trapdoor "resonator" delivers a very distinct timbre.
