This a a beautiful recreation of one of Gibson's most iconic guitars. The J-185 was first introduced in 1951 and the smaller "Jumbo" body is reminiscent of the earlier J-200. The 16" wide, tight waisted body is comfortable to play and elicits a distinct tone whether fingerpicked or strummed. This particular instrument is part of the Custom Shop "true vintage" series. It is made with a Red Spruce (Adirondack) top and grade 3A flamed maple back and sides. To find a guitar like this used is a substantial bargain compared to buying new.
