Stunning Fern F 5 Gibson mandolin. Gibson oversprayed the instrument and replaced the fingerboard in the 1930's with what was stock at the time, a block inlayed board which is included in the case. A correct period dot inlayed board was replaced last year. Top leaf of fern inlay is all original. In beautiful original condition with no cracks or repairs. The sound is balanced and sweet with great playability. Originally ordered and sent out in 1928 with Factory Order Number: 8231. Comes with original rectangular hard shell case with green interior.
