We present an exceedingly rare and elusive member of the Gibson family, the EMS-1235, which features an 8 string mandolin neck married to a 6 string guitar neck, all in stunning sunburst. Thin, top-contoured hollow body with a fine grained spruce top, flamed maple back/sides, two mahogany necks. Bound back/sides, fingerboards. Features three PAF double black pickups w/ respective toggle selector switches/tone & volume controls, two adjustable bridges, two original double-bound pickguards, Kluson DELUXE tuners on each peghead. This incredible example even features matching Gibson "CUSTOM" truss-rod covers, and parallelogram inlays on each rosewood fingerboard. Mild finish checking present throughout, small dings from honest playing wear, well-repaired heel crack on mandolin neck. This 1962 EMS-1235 plays with spectacular ease on either neck, sounds phenomenal and is perhaps one-of-a-kind.
