George Bauer Monogram Parlor Guitar

  • Very Good Condition
  • Year: circa 1900s

Lovely little parlor guitar with spruce top and richly hued rosewood back and sides. The George Bauer, Philadelphia label is still intact. The slotted peghead has a rosewood overlay and original tuners. There is a pearl fleur di lis in the headstock and pearl diamonds on the ebony fretboard. The neck has a V profile. The guitar is ladder braced. There are a few minor repaired back cracks and it appears that the neck was reset and heel cap replaced at some point. The finish on the guitar looks to be original except for the back which was probably oversprayed after the neck set. Unfortunately the guitar was outfitted with a very oversized bridge. . Here are the specs: Scale length 24 1/2" Upper bout 8 3/4" Lower bout 12 1/8" Body depth 3 1/2" Width of neck at nut 1 7/8"
