One of a kind folk art banjo with 10" rim. Marquetry inlays up the neck with additional painted decorations on veneer fretboard and grafted-on peghead with geared tuners. This banjo probably started out life as a fretless, with brass frets added later which have since been worn down significantly. Hardware appears to be period including tailpiece with stamp reading "A.G. Wood, PAT. April 5, 1887". Beautiful heel carving of vine and grapes with brass heel cap. A supreme plunker of a banjo with nice playability and good intonation. Make this banjo's next 100 years full of music.
