A unusual Dobson banjo from an era of innovation and experimentation. The Great Echo features a hollow metal rim, and metal-clad dowel stick which bears a November, 6th, 1888 patent date, SN#188, and C. Edgar Dobson and Co. stamp. 26" scale mahogany neck with sharp "V" profile, original Champion friction tuners, and friction 5th tuning peg. In excellent shape apart from two small dents on the back of the rim, and former owner's name has been hastily scratched into the dowel stick "sheath".
