This is a beautiful 11-1/2" Bacon rim with the earliest version of what became the Silver Bell tonering. Essentially the tone ring, with perforated holes, is turned from the wooden rim and then fitted with a metal rod and skirt which is also perforated. These banjos make great old time players and this is no exception. It was originally a tenor banjo and the new 26" chubby neck by James Webb uses the original inlays, dowel stick and peghead overlay.
