One of the earliest Alvarez "Masterclone" banjos we have seen, this example dates from the early 1970s and sports the Montana Five Star model name. Features a heavy 20 hole flat-head tone ring (P.S. 1968 written on tonering), "stair-step" tuners, Presto-style tailpiece, and armrest...all plated in gold. Striking pearl dot fretboard inlay pattern on mahogany neck, resonator also has a pearl floral inlay pattern. In excellent original condition, almost no playing wear. Extremely well built, easy to play, vibrant projecting tone. Includes original hard case in excellent condition as well.
