This is an Italian made, round back mandolin in need of restoration. This instrument is made in the style of the Calaces and other small makers of the day. The instrument has 18 Rosewood ribs with a "skirt that wraps around the tailpiece end. The skirt is pierced with oblong and round holes on the sides. The instrument will need extensive repair. There is some missing, rosewood binding, there is a separation in one of the ribs and the action is high. The mandolin retains its original tuners and bridge and engraved, aluminum scratch plate.
