This is the hallowed Billy Byrd / Hank Garland model, the thinbody, short scale version of the L-5ES. A 17" lower bout, florentine (pointed) cutaway, 2 1/4" rounded maple neck with two humbucker pickups. The tailpiece is triple loop and tubular in design with no engravings. The tortoiseshell pickguard has deteriorated and has been removed, but comes with the guitar inside the case. Ebony fingerboard with a 23 1/2" scale. Block inlays on the neck, with flower pot inlay on the peghead. A marvelously preserved Byrdland by Gibson with original gold plated tuners and comes with the original case. The short scale has got to be played to feel how unique this guitar is! 1 13/16" nut.
